"You're going to like her."
"What do you mean? 'Like like' her?"
"Yes, you're going to 'like like' her."
My long time best friend, Rachel Johnson, kept telling me about her roommate when we got to college in 2005. She had quite a lot to say about her and was anxious to introduce us. As someone who had known me for quite some time, I didn't doubt that Rachel knew what she was talking about when she told me I would fall for Chelsie, and I did exactly that. I was completely smitten over her. Her wit and her intellect, her pretty blue eyes, her laugh, what else could I do but to fall completely head over heels?
But alas, Chelsie had left a boyfriend back at home, and I was already comitted, for better or for worse, until death do us part, to my text books and term papers. I never told Chelsie how I felt for her, and we hardly were able to see one another.
Fast forward to 6 years later. Stuck at home with a case of Mono, sickly and ailing, Chelsie had been entertaining herself by posting on facebook. Feeling sympathy for her, I put together a little comic and sent it to her via facebook email. I had hoped a laugh might cheer her up. That email was followed by another, and another, and eventually, we decided we needed to get together and catch up. -Jerrett

We met on May 3, 2011...it was the start of something wonderful.

It was freezing cold in the Fort Davis Mountains when we visited the McDonald Observatory. We were about to go to a "Lunar Viewing Program", where we would look through a telescope at the moon and learn all kinds of cool stuff about it.
What Chelsie didn't know was that I had been in contact with the McDonald Observatory for just about a month, and I was planning to ask her to marry me. I had bought Chelsie a star in the international star registry for our anniversary. After the program, our guide was going to position the telescope so we could get a closer look at it. Everyone was in on it except for Chelsie!
When the program was over, and our guide had positioned the telescope, Chelsie put her eye up to the lense. As she did that, I got down on my knee. When she turned around, her eyes lit up, her jaw dropped, and she said, "Shut UP!" (followed by "yes!")

For real. Forever.
