Feral creatures

Life has gotten busy these last few weeks and updating my blog isn't the only thing that I have neglected. Our house looks like a refugee camp....laundry EVERYWHERE, seriously everywhere. Jerrett uses our guest bedroom as an office (which will be changing shortly because craigslist and I have plans for a great guest room/ small SMALL home office) anyway I don't go in that room if I don't have to.

The other day the closet door was open and I noticed something strange.....the entire closet was full from the floor and up as high as my neck with dirty clothes. Apparently my dear husband had become  "overwhelmed" with the weight of his chore ....and instead of talking to me about it, he began piling it away in the guest room closet.

It's not all his fault (but it is a lot his fault), I could be doing more but with school, work and life it is really really hard to keep everything running smoothly! Sorry mom that I ever asked "does my room need to look clean or really be clean?"

This weekend I am taking my house BACK from the black, we are going to the Laundromat with giant bags of dirty laundry and are going to knock it out in one go. My hope is that if we tackle the huge pile, then the maintenance will seem much more doable. Here's hoping.....

Dreams of a backyard homestead

As spring approaches, I am eagerly reading through all the literature I can get my hands on, in hopes that I can start a fairly sustainable backyard homestead. I'm talking a few chickens and a bounty of fresh veggies, you know that should be super duper easy, right? SURE.....

Part of the reason we bought this house is because of the incredible back yard, it's about a quarter of an acre in the heart of the city and already has a shed that could easily turn into a coop, with pre-bedded gardens. THE PROBLEM IS, I don't have a green thumb, whatsoever but I really think that with enough guidance we could get something pretty special going on over here. If any of you have any experience with backyard chickens or gardens I would love to hear any tips and all of your advice!

Oh heyyyyyy there Grad School......

BIG NEWS
Big news on the Lyday front, this Thursday around 4pm I received an email notifying me that I had been accepted into the Master's of School Counseling program at Dallas Baptist University (holla!)..and that my first class was that same night and at 5:30. I was and am ecstatic, I had just enough time that I did a giddy squeal and ran to brush my teeth then practically FLEW out the door. I managed to find the campus, make it to class on time with nothing to even take notes with aside from my barely charged iPad (and thank the Lord I even had that!). I sat there studiously taking notes, smiling a giddy grin and trying my hardest to not starve to death in the process....I have three papers due by next week and another class I haven't been to yet....I am almost certain I can swing this.....sure?

I have NO IDEA how we are going to pay for classes and even less of an idea how it is going to fit into my already super busy schedule but I know that I want this, more than I have ever wanted any part of my education....so that will have to be enough for now.
